I want to go to 4 wheel disc brakes on my car. To do this what would I need to do? Swap rear ends or what? If I swap rear ends what year and model could I use. Thanks

82 GTS had solid axle and drum.
83 GTS had IRS and drum
84-85 GTS has IRS and disk brakes.

You can swap with a 84-85 Celica, or a 82-86 Supra. You you swap with the Supra, grab the whole real sub assembly off the car.

Much easier of EITHER Celica or Supra to yank the whole rear sub-frame. Brake lines/e-brake cable(s), then just 4 big bolts.

If you want to swap just the arms, that's fine. Do poly bushings while you're there. P-S-T polygraphite either come w/ the right metal sleeves, or are the right size to reuse the old ones. Energy Suspension don't fit the original inner sleeves & the new sleeves won't fit the original bolts. Rolling Eyes

I had the swap done to my GT-S coupe a little after I bought it. I hate working on drums. But I'm told (over & over) that the drums on these cars are actually pretty good.
