So i am building a racecar with a 20R motor from a 77 celica gt.. I have it in and it wont run right due to all the vaccuum lines and not sure what to do to eliminate them.. Is there another carb system that I can use for this car so i can cut this old one out, i dont need any smog regulations or anything. So anything that I can cut out would be helpful, and also the headers are vaccumed on this thing to, how can I get rid of these..Any suggestions will help, we basically want to make this a basic motor and cut out all the extra..Also maybe even a electronic ignition or something to get this vaccum advance off of the distributor.? basic carb and headers to eliminate all the vaccum lines.???

i would run a weber 32/36 if the rules allow.

if they dont:

remove all the vac lines.

reinstall 2

1 to a switched port off the base of the carb for the dizzy.
1 to the intake under the carb to the dash pot for the secondarys.

take the "exhaust vac tube" off the manifold. cut off the end and weld it shut. then remove the back plate off the head (on the very rear of the head) and replace with a plate. this will completely disable the EGR system and you can leave the EGR valve where it is or make block off plates and remove it.

and newer electronic ignition from a 78+ celica or pickup will work. 22r dizzy's will work as well. just the EFI coil/ignitor isnt compatible. be sure to use the right coil/ignitor for the dizzy you choose.

the vac advance on the dizzy is a good thing btw.
