Just registered here, was on another Celica site and it wasn't too active, seems like it never is. Decided to rebuild my '84 after it lost power and wouldn't stay running a few months ago. Took it in the shop to get checked out and it was only a head gasket problem. Was gona do that myself but talking to the shop owner I found out he had experience building up 22re's. So I said what the hell might as well do it. Cam, .060 over, inj. headers, etc. , can't go as far as I'd like though cause being in CA. gotta pass smog. Later. Cool

Yeah! I know the header is pretty important especially after the bore & cam. Been checking on a header online and they're all saying the headers arn't CARB cert. for CA---- thats crazy. Heard the '82-'83 exhaust mani. has a better flow design, somewhere between stock & a header. I'll check more on that. Already got a K&N type intake on there, 2 1/4 pipe and a Thermal muffler--like the deeper sound with it. Port & polish was extra $500 so decided not yet. Later. Cool

ya probly need ta find a header with a O2 sensor thingy on it for it to be ok with cali.

or maybe it needs some egr stuff built into it

truck manifolds are the shit. look for a 4-2-2 one

it has 2 pipes coming of the manifold Wink

Well, I finally picked up my Celica on fri. Feels sweet. It's been parked for months, took two weeks for the rebuild, feels like a new ride again, yeah. Got to put some miles on it now 500-1000mi before I could see what it does. Found a header, it's made pretty good, looks like a Thorley 4-2-1-, its used some and came of a truck, don't know if it would fit though might hit the steering. Anybody know if it'll work. Only 60$. Later. Cool

dont forget ta change the oil REAL often like 100-300-500-yada-yada

and if the truck header is anything like the one on mine (dont know brand) youll only notice it on u-turns and you can have a muff shop fit it b4 ya put it on (wish i did)

look for cracks in the welds for the collector of that header if its used

You sure bout that oil change schedule, I say 500 then 1000 then every 3000. Oil is still clean at 100, 300. What's your reasoning on this. Later. Cool

the first couple are REALLY important. as new berrings n other rotating things move they will remove imperfections (read lil chunks o metal). also bits of sealant will come loose and any other crap in there. remember the nicer you are to your eng for the first 5k the longer it will last.

ta proove my point swish a magnet around in your used oil and see what it pics up
